As you might have guessed, this article is all about getting the most out of your scroll...but what do we mean? Learning to open a coil? Clean the coil instead of replacing it?
yes and no. Indeed, it's important to understand how to light a coil before taking the first step. If you don't, you run the risk of suddenly breaking and burning the coil before you even start!
Cleaning the reel (if done correctly!) will extend its life of the reel. Here's how to prime and deep clean your coils.
However, if you really want to extend the life of your coils, there are also things you can do (and some things you can't!) that would make a world of difference. Read on as we cover those as well.
How to Prepare Vape Coil?
Well, let's say you vape the coil that came with your tank. All was well, but he noticed a drop in flavour and steam production and decided it was time to replace the coils. How to Prepare A Vape Coil; Step by Step
- Remove the old coil from the tank. But don't throw it away - we can use that dirty spool later when we show you how to clean it.
- *OPTIONAL* Once you've removed the tank, it's worth cleaning. Usually, just a wipe with a kitchen towel will remove any dirt or debris.
- Remove the new coil from the packaging and verify that everything is kosher. Especially the O-rings; you want to make sure they fit snugly and don't come loose.
- Before installing the new coil, put 3-5 drops of e-liquid on the wick. Most coil heads have a visible opening on the top or side where the wick is visible.
- Put the new coil in the tank, making sure everything is tight.
- Grab your e-liquid and fill your tank. Leave the reservoir on for 5-10 minutes to allow the e-liquid to completely saturate the wick.
- We're almost done. But before running your mod, give the tank a few hits. But be careful not to pull too hard on this step or you will overwhelm your stamina.
For the first few clicks of the new coil, you should reduce the wattage of the mod to about half of what you normally use. Take a few puffs at this intensity, then slowly increase every few puffs until you get the charming spot.
How Long Should The Stream Last?
It's impossible to say exactly how long a coil will last before it needs to be cleaned (more on that later!) or replaced. It depends on how you vape, what type of vape you are vaping, and how much you vape.
Every time the module is turned on, electricity and heat are delivered directly to the coils. It is this heat that reacts with the saturated wick and produces steam. When you repeatedly heat the coil to vaporize the e-liquid, it leaves a sticky residue (over time) that "bonds" the wick and coil together.
Final Verdict:
Although atomizer coils are not an expensive component, it is always good to get the most out of your dose. If you use coils with annoying frequencies, you are likely a victim of one of the above habits.
If you buy off-the-shelf from a reputable store, the chances of the coil being bad or poor quality are slim. Honestly, the most common reasons for short coil life are vaping at too high a wattage and using high VG ratio e-liquids.
